Restoration of vision in the United States

What is laser vision correction

Laser vision correction is a procedure to restore vision in cases of nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. The surgery is performed in one day and does not require hospitalization. Patients with significant deviations in vision - from -15 to +4 D - are eligible for correction.

Who is not eligible for laser correction and how to prepare for it

Lactating and pregnant women are contraindicated for the procedure. Laser correction is not recommended for patients under the age of 18 and over 45. The categorical ban to the operation is the presence of infection and autoimmune diseases. If you are not under contraindications, doctors recommend to pay special attention to the preparation:

  • Eliminate the wearing of lenses for several days before the procedure.
  • Do not drink alcohol for 1 day.
  • Do not use eye makeup for 24 hours.
  • In general, a complete list of recommendations before surgery is created based on the results of the examination. For example, doctors need to understand whether the patient's vision is deteriorating or not. They must assess the condition of the cornea, its thickness, and find out with great accuracy if there are any progressing concomitant diseases.

High security level of the procedure and advanced last generation laser equipment have made the laser correction procedure easy and available for everybody. Of course we can't forget that any medical method has certain contra-indications and limitations. It is not recommended for HIV-infected people, tuberculosis, diabetes, some skin and eye diseases, pregnant and nursing women. But to those who can restore the vision with the help of this technology correction becomes a real salvation. It is really an incomparable pleasure to look and see the world around you bright and clear every day.

Thousands of people who have undergone laser correction of vision see no one who has ever regretted their decision to refuse glasses and contact lenses. Former patients of ophthalmologists often confess that only after laser correction they started to feel themselves as full-fledged people. It's so great to not have to worry about the fact that you might not see something. Having made the correction, they persuade all their friends who can't see well to do the same deed. And then they wonder why they were so badly persuaded and couldn't be persuaded before.

    What restrictions apply after surgery

After the procedure, you are not allowed to wear eye make-up and hair spray for a few days, and drinking alcoholic drinks is also forbidden for that period of time. Watching TV, driving a car, working at a computer, reading books is allowed in the first 24 hours after the laser correction.

Stresses like dancing or light bike riding are possible on the next day after the procedure, but of course this question should be discussed with the doctor beforehand. Extreme activities, such as lifting weights, fall under a more serious ban, and restrictions also apply to team and contact sports such as volleyball, soccer, wrestling, etc. Also, team and contact sports such as weight lifting, volleyball, and wrestling are also prohibited. But you will have to wait with weight lifting, volleyball, and wrestling for a short period of time as all restrictions are lifted at the end of rehabilitation period. It is also not recommended to visit tanning salon and swimming pool after laser correction of vision. Period of rehabilitation is individual for every patient, on average it may take up to one month.

Can laser correction be performed on both eyes

Yes, a modern laser correction procedure can be performed on both eyes simultaneously. Dressings are not necessary, you will see clearly in 1 to 2 hours after the procedure.
